The hoses are tested to find weaknesses that are beyond the scope of visual inspection. The safest way to test the hose's pressure resistance is with water, but with compressed air or nitrogen, more special equipment is required. Various hand or electric pumps can be used as a test effort pump. The test pressure is defined for each hose and location, and a good rule of thumb is 1.3-1.4 times the working pressure marked on the hose.
The pressure test pressure for each hose assembly is precisely defined in the hose instructions, and the required pressure test certificates must be included in the hose pressure test instructions. Everything essential about the hose assembly must be clearly stated in the test effort protocol, so that weaknesses can be detected and corrected effectively. An expert helps plan annual hose inspections.
