The use of steel braided hoses is common in many industrial sectors where the transfer of materials is part of the production process. In demanding conditions, where the environment is challenging and the substance to be moved can be harmful to the hose, however, special solutions are needed. In such a situation, a steel braided all-metal hose with DIN or ANSI/ASME flanges is a safe and secure alternative.
The all-metal hoses are very durable and are ideally suited for use in environments where high resistance to temperatures and chemicals is required. Heavy industry especially appreciates these hoses, because the cleaning of hoses often requires strong chemicals and high temperatures. All-metal hoses can be easily cleaned with hot steam, which makes them particularly convenient for this application. A flange connection is usually used to connect steel braided hoses to the pipeline, as it is the safest way to ensure the tightness of the hoses and the pipeline.
All-metal hoses are an excellent choice for industrial equipment where extremely high temperatures and dangerous chemicals are handled. They are very durable and safe and can be used to replace traditional rubber or plastic hoses. Especially when used as steam hoses, all-metal hoses are superior in durability compared to rubber steam hoses. All-metal hoses can withstand temperatures of up to 550°C, while rubber steam hoses can only briefly withstand temperatures of 232°C. This makes all-metal hoses very useful in various industrial applications where special durability and safety are required
Full metal hoses are very convenient in many industrial applications because they are light and slide easily on different surfaces. This makes them easier to use and move from one place to another. The lightness of all-metal hoses is a particularly significant advantage compared to rubber-based hoses. For example, an inch hose with a pressure resistance of 50 BAR weighs only 0.8 kg per meter, while a 20 BAR hose according to the EN12115 standard can weigh up to 10-20% more.
The installation of steel braided all-metal hoses with flanges is very easy and fast when using a rotating flange on one end and a fixed flange on the other. The rotating flange allows the hose to be easily installed and attached to another flange, even if the hose is not installed perfectly straight. This reduces installation time and possible errors during installation.
If both ends are fixed, the installation angle of the flange connector must be precisely known so that the bolt holes line up correctly. This requires precision and care in installation to avoid damaging or leaking the hose. That is why it is recommended to use a rotating flange at one end of the hose, which makes installation easier and faster.
Flanges according to DIN and ANSI/ASME standards are the most common types of flanges used in pipelines. Flanges according to the DIN standard are mainly used in Europe, while flanges according to the ANSI/ASME standard are mainly used in North America. They are not compatible with each other either. The right flange type is easy to find dimensions of the flanges from the table.
Steel braided hose with DIN flanges in pipe connections are generally lighter and use units of measurement according to the metric system. The material for making DIN flanges can vary, but the most commonly used are steel and stainless steel. DIN flanges usually have a round hole around the pipe where the connector is attached.
ANSI/ASME flanged steel braided hoses are generally heavier and use US metric units. ANSI/ASME flanges can also be made of different materials, but the most common are carbon steel, stainless steel, and titanium.
Although the flanges and pipe joints according to DIN and ANSI/ASME standards are different, they have the same purpose: they allow different parts of the pipeline to be connected to each other, enable the dismantling and maintenance of the pipeline, and prevent leaks in the pipeline. You can easily find out which standard flange is needed from the flange dimensioning table.
